Travelers Complain of Hike in Air Tickets

Travelers at the newly inaugurated airport terminal of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, have complained about the hike in price of air tickets by airlines for the Christmas celebration.

Some of travelers said it wasn’t a surprise as they knew it had always been the case during Christmas seasons.

A businessman, Mr. Obiora Okeke, said he was not surprised that flight ticket prices have soared considering the antecedents of airlines during festive periods.

“It is not surprising that we are paying higher fare this time because it has been the case in Nigeria during festive periods because the same thing happens even in road transport sector.

The only way out is that government should continue with rail projects to provide alternative means of transportation for people.

Aside that, we don’t have many viable domestic airlines in Nigeria and the few we have are struggling to survive,” Mr. Okeke said.
